Great excitement till the finish on court 4 of the European Beach Handball Championship: Denmark won the duel against Norway.
Norwegian coach Eskil Andreassen could use his strongest team for the great clash, whilst on the other side Denmark missed the injured Sara Seir who is out for the whole tournament.
Norway caught a storming start and built out a clear lead that Betina Riegelhuth and her team-mates could maintain for the whole set.
In the second period the roles have changed, it was the other Scandinavian nation, Denmark that dominated the set and after two red cards for Norway´s Ane Brustuen and Rannveig Haugen it was clear that a shoot-out would decide about the winner.
The shoot-out became a nerve breaking situation for both of the teams and at the end Denmark became luckier and won the tight clash.
Marianne Lundsby, player of Denmark: “It´s always tough to play against Norway. We´ve met them several times at training games and always had a tight match. Today our calmness, patience and a little luck decided in our favour.”
