Italy, as title defender, are one of the best teams in the women´s tournament aiming to defend their title from two years ago in Larvik, Norway.
Italy´s experienced player Carmen Onnis have answered a few questions to timeoutmag.com:
Timeoutmag.com: How was the preparation for Italy prior to the European Beach Handball Championship?
Carmen Onnis: Well, we didn´t have enough time to prepare as we don´t get much support from our own national federetion. Some of our players finished indoor handball in Europe in April and they didn´t get any practice since then, so here we take every game as a practice and hope that we´ll improve step by step.
Timeoutmag.com: Compared to the Beach Handball ECh in Norway in 2010, you now have many young players in the team, how do things work with them?
Carmen Onnis: Yep, we´ve several new players that recently joined the National Team. They´re adapting very well and we, the more experienced players, do our utmost to give them the experience / practice they really need.
Timeoutmag.com: What are Italy´s goals in the tournament?
Carmen Onnis: Here, we´re taking every game step by step. It´d be nice to defend our title, but we just look from match to match. For us it´s important to have match experience, so we give our best and see what the outcome will be.
