The eastern Europeans caught a strong start and didn´t have any problems to maintain their lead over the first period, Norway had massive problems with the tall Russian players.
It was only in the second set where the Norwegians found their rhythm and caused several problems for the Russians finding the hole in their defensive wall. Norway kept the game open, still it were Russia who went to lead and Norway closed up.
In the dying seconds Russia were in the lead by two points, three seconds were to go, Norway went for a right wing throw through their experienced Edwin Fjeldtwedt, but he was blocked, so Russia celebrated a 2-0 victory, whilst Norway have to go for the placement matches 5 to 8 in the afternoon.
