Montenegro – Spain 19:23 (9:11)
With a very solid performance, Spain made it to the quarterfinals, where they will meet the winner between Brazil and Ivory Coast.
Montenegro again had a horrid start like in their preliminaries against Norway, Spain quickly established a 3:0 lead, so coach Dragan Adzic had to call for a very early time out.
His side was shocked by the Spanish lead and top defense, as Silvia Navarro saved with top efficiency. The Spanish goalkeeper (67% saves in the first half) was one of the main pillars for the superb start of the Iberians, whilst the Spanish attacks were successful as well, meaning a 6:1 lead after 8 minutes.
Montenegro´s defense was non-existent and continued to show the same fluctuations like in their previous games.
Despite this, Montenegro came closer, but Spain kept to control the game and with the same high quality and calm play, the Spaniards kept their lead.
Best player of the match was Spanish goalkeeper Silvia Navarro with 65% saving efficiency, a world class performance against such quality team like Montenegro.
