
Russia started the Main Round with only one defeat so far, so it was more Spain under pressure, but the Sbornaja had to win if they wanted to secure a place in the semi-final.
Therefore Spain started with pressure on the Russians, but the east-europeans performed well in their attacks and found easily Alexandr Tatarintsev on the line, who scored with ease.
Spain, with Robert Mateo Sanchez`s improving performance between the sticks shut the goal and then turned the result, but Russia´s playmaker Anton Dache netted vital goals and so Spain lost the first period.
In the second it was again Spain dominating, but the Sbornaja leveled the match after six minutes and never looked back.
