Zdravko Zovko’s Zvezda has arrived to Viborg Stadionhallen to met the local team in the third match of group phase in CL.

Hosts are still missing team captain MaritMalm Frafjord, who is recovering after a shoulder injury and the young, Norwegian right back, Amanda Kurtovic, having the same problem.

Russians took a great start, leading 0-3, Viborg could touch the netting only in the 10.minute, for first time in the match. After 15 minutes of play, the game became more balanced, 7-7, 9-9, Yulia Nikolic beeing unstopable from guest-team, scoring 5 before the break. Viborg had woken up in the last part of the first half, scoring on fast breaks by Lyksborg and Chebbah, leading 12-10, but result before break was decided by saves of Sidorova and Lacrabére’s scoring, 12-13.

Second half started with Danish scorings,  Fisker was unstopable from fast breaks and wing as well, hosts took the lead by two 18-16, after 40 minutes. Russians has tied the situation and  turned to 19-20, but for a short time only. Of the two Viakhirjeva-sisters, today was Polina (Kuznetcova) having a  better day and performance, scoring from wing and fast-breaks too. Five minutes before the final whistle, guests from Zvezda were in lead by one, 25-26, Zovko took a time-out. Danes has tried everything to get a tie, but Zvezda collected the two points, final result 27-28.

Topscorers: Maria Fisker (Viborg HK) 7 goals and Yulia Nikolic (Zvezda Zvenigorod) 8 goals

Result: Viborg HK-Zvezda Zvenigorod 27-28 (12-13)
