As reported by casinomagasinet.com, French national team player Nikola Karabatić, who also plays for Montpellier, will no longer appear in ads and commercials for online gambling operattor BetClic, it was reported on Thursday.
All advertisements bearing the World-, European- and Olympic champion’s face have been withdrawn
and Betclic are quick to emphasize that this is not in violation of any contract agreed.
This follows allegations made against Karabatić and other players in relation to bets placed on their
own match against Cesson on 12th May, which they lost, rather unexpectedly. An investigation into
match-fixing and illegal sport betting is now underway.
Karabatić, who won a dozen national league titles in France and Germany, former French soccer
international Marcel Desailly and San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker all are Team
Ambassadors for online gaming giant BetClic Everest Group, whose international brands include
Everest Gaming, BetClick, Bet-at-Home and Expekt. The three greats of French sport recently
appeared together in a popular TV commercial for the sports betting operation.
Equally owned by the Lov Group and La Société des Bains de Mer, Betclic Everest offers a wide
range of online gaming services from horse and sports betting to casino, bingo and poker with
customer service in 25 languages.
