FTC Rail-Cargo Hungaria had to play against Dinamo Volgograd, after a bitter defeat in Győr this week, in a Hungarian League match.
Hungarian team missed three players because of injuries, Szandra Zácsik (shoulder-injury, already after surgery), Nerea Pena and Anita Cifra, injured in the start of this match.
FTC had a bad start, Dinamo took the lead, 0-3, 3-6. The score was equal at 8-8, but we could see a tired Hungarian team, which didn’t find the rhytm of the game. Five minutes before the break, guests had a considerable advantage, 10-16. Only playmaker Zita Szucsánszki had a good performance in this period of the match, which was not enough to win the game. Then coach Gábor Elek took his timeout and made clear to his players, that if they don’t want to lose this match, must be more agressive in defence and must score goals. The miracle has happened and FTC scored four times, getting only one, finishing the first half at 14-17.
The second half was a march of Zsuzsanna Tomori, scoring on almost every chance, and the defence became also better. Hosts managed to get en equal by 22-22, taking the lead by one goal, followed tightly by Volgograd, but winning at the end by two. Final result: 30-28-
