
In the second match of the CL Groups final round, FTC Rail-Cargo Hungaria visited to Larvik Arena hoping to keep their lead in the group and qualifying on the first place to the Main Round. The hosts were preparing for the same issue, so the crowd could be sure on a big clash between two strong teams.
FTC is weakened since the two teams last fight, Szandra Zácsik had a shoulder injury, which became worse, so they backplayer has gone trough a surgery and her recovery takes about 4-6 months. Other players like Anita Cifra and Nerea Pena also had some injury problems, but they will be on court in this important game.
Larvik has also injured players like Nora Mörk, Kari Mette Johansen, Olga Medvedeva and Kristin Breistöl.
The start of the game showed a very motivated Larvik team, pushing on the acceleration and taking the lead by 2-0, 4-2,5-4 , 9-4 and 10-4. FTC-coach, Gábor Elek took his time-out, and his team became more organised after that. Larvik had an extra performance at left wing, by Thea Mörk, scoring 5 goals and Cecilie Leganger had saved many shoots in the goal. FTC showed a good play on the line, Szamoránsky scoring five and Orsolya Vérten added three as well. Half time: 16-13.
Second half started with a good settled FTC play, score became 17-17, so 19-17. Abramovich had a quality improvment, saving ball after ball, but Leganger was outstanding as well saving two 7 meters. Then FTC collected a bunch of 2 minutes suspensions and Larvik increased the gap to 22-17. Th game became more agresive, the qualification was hanging in a goal or two fro both teams. 25-21, nine minutes before the end. Isabelle Blanco has got injured after a shoot from opponent hitting her face. Other situation has brought a red card for Riegelhuth-Koren hitting Tomori, who got a suspension for reclamations. It was a high tension on the court, followed a new red card , this time for Tomori and a defeat for FTC. Final result: 30-23.
