Germany in the Main Round, Croatia out

Last match in the group C has brought an interesting game between Croatia, beeing present here in Serbia without their star players, Andrea Penezic and Miranda Tatari and Germany, team which had lost several players due to injuries also before this Championship (Stephanie Melbeck, Susan Müller, Isabelle Klein).

Croatia has beaten Hungary in the opening match of the group by one goal and Germany starts this game without any collected points here in Novi Sad.

Tonight’s match is crucial regarding to qualification to the Main Round.

First half  was a period of good and strong defenses, with a few goals.  Nadja Nadgornaja netted 3 times for Germans and Maja Zebic has scored five.Half time: 8-9.

Second part was balanced, tie at 9-9, but Germans improved in attack and took the lead, 11-12.13-16 .  Katja Schülke added some impressive saves in the goal and Germans increased the gap. Final result:

Result: Croatia- Germany  16-17 (7-8)

Topscorers: Maja Zebic(Croatia)  and Nadja Nadgornaja(Germany)
