In our series of articles written by our experts, today’s analysis is made by Eduarda Amorim, about the Group I. of the Main Round.

The Brasilian backplayer, playing for Győri Audi ETO, has  watched the last two matches of group A in Kombank Arena from Belgrade.

Eduarda has an injury she is recovering from, her left ankle has been injured in the last CL-match played for her club, but it goes better now, and about one week she can drop the crutches.

Group A

Norway has got the maximum amount of points, but didn’t impress with their performance. Maybe they wasn’t challenged by the level of the other teams in the group. Anyway I was expecting a more consistent game.

Serbia did very well, showing a great fight in defense and had the support from their fans,on the way  to get the second place of this group. Nice job.

I also liked the way Czech Republic played and I was surprised with their game, specially the one against Norway.

Ukraine also showed a great battle against Norway but besides that they didn’t plazed a good handball in these matches.

Group B

Great handball was played in  this group, with very equilibrate and intense matches.

France showed a great performance in attack and a solid defense during all three matches but they let the maximum points slip out from their hands in  the best match of this group  played against Denmark. This was also the best match of the group in my opinion.

By the way incredible performance in these matches from Denmark‘s side. Very fast play, cohesive group, deep defense-  has made difficult for the other teams to stop them. This rejuvenate team has already to be proud of their performance in this European.

Remarkable job for Sweden, team whic came with a low moral from the Olympics, but has managed to play in a good level in defense and even if some moments they struggled in attack they balanced the results with the effective turn overs.

Macedonia had a poor performance and all the three teams played in a confident way against them giving no chance to get a point in this group.

Expectations for Group I

Tough group has been formed here from group A and B, where anything could happen.

I believe that one spot for the semifinals will be taken by  Norway, but the other one would be decided between Denmark or France.

Norway had great individual moments in the group but they have to play more  as a group and  has to use more energy in defense if they want to reach the top. But I believe they will, and that is why my first bet is them.

France, even if they performed good in the group I still think they could make better in the Main Round. Sometimes their easy mistakes, make them to not achieve bigger differences in the score and sometimes lose the control of the match. But I think they are feeling confident and they have the experience to get to the top.

Denmark is proving here that the latest tournament was just not a good moment,  but y,s that they can keep the high level even if they have not so experienced players. The smart changing of the players, made by head-coach Pytlick is working so far and I believe they can be the big
surprise of this tournament.

Sweden is in a better shape than before but I don’t believe they can be superior to these three teams just mentioned above.

Serbia has small chances, due to the fact that they are really motivated for playing at home-court, but I think it will be difficult to make more points.

Czech Republic– I am sorry to say but I don’t think they can win the next battles.

We are coming back with analysis and discussing chances before the semifinals.
