Romania crushed Spain

Main Round of EURO 2012 in Serbia has started with the match between Spain and Romania in SPENS Arena in Novi Sad.

Because of the weather conditions in Serbia, the hall is almost empty, thousands of fans are on the ways, trying to make it to get to the matches.

Romania was qualified from the third place of group D  to the Main Round, Spain took the second pot of group C.

The first half of the match was dominated by the Romanian team, they leading almost the whole first part, by two-three goals. Paula Ungureanu had a great performance in the goal, in the field Aurelia Bradeanu, Cristina Neagu, Adriana Nechita and Iulia Curea was netting more times, holding their team in advantage.

Spanishs have not found the rhythm, and playing without  Macarena Aguilar their problems became even more serious. Only Begona Fernandez on the line could cause serious problems to the Romanian defense. Crina Pintea has got  a red card for very harsh defense against Mangue, half time ended 12-15.

The second half Romanians  has pushed on the acceleration and increased the gap to 16-20, in 35th minute. Jorge Duenas has called his time-out, his team seemed to be sleeping in the start of the second half, but this had not helped, Romania was increasing the lead gradually, 16-24 in the 41th minute. Romania came up to a ten goals lead in 48th minute, but Spain managed to reduce the gap to six goals, 23-29 and final result was 26-31.

Result: Spain-Romania 26-31 (12-15)

Topscorers: Begona Fernandez (Spain) 5 goals and Iulia Curea (Romania) 7 goals
