Karl-Erik Böhn, head-coach of Hungary:
“I like the way Russia plays handball, and now they will play for the 5th place in Belgrade. My team had lost today but, we had the possibility in this match to use all the players and rest my injured players.
My players had played several matches against though teams, and some of them has minor injuries, so I needed to rest them.
We reached good results in this ECh and we had a bit of luck also. I am happy that we are playing in the semifinal, we will prepare and win a medal.
Norway is the most difficult opponent we could get, but I know them quiet well, so this might help.
My team is hungry to achieve a big result here in Serbia and we will do everything to get it!”
Anikó Kovacsics, Hungarian player:
“I am really happy that we are in the semifinals, and today my team-mates could rest, and we could play. We wanted to win but this is sport and not every time is working out despite our desire. I am proud to be part of this team.”
Vitaly Krokhin, Russian head-coach:
” We had lack of luck in this championship, we got three draws, but my team had a good fighting spirit. Congratulate to Hungary for semifinals. In this match they rest the key players and reserve players was on the court, this maybe helped us a little bit. ”
Ekaterina Ilina, Russian playmaker:
” I am happy that we won and we played well, our team was good organised today, but I hope that this is only the start with this young team, and we will be able to reach better results in the future.”
