Larvik HK winner of theirs 13th Norwegian Cup

Sunday afternoon in Oslo Spektrum was played the final of the Norwegian Cup, where title holder Larvik HK met the young team of Stabæk, from Oslo. Thefinal is a replay of the last years final here in Oslo Spektrum. Then the same two teams met each other, and Larvik has crushed the girls from Stabæk.

Players, not able to play fro Larvik: Tine Stange (pregnant), Tine Rustad Kristiansen (pregnant), Nora and Thea Mörk (injured), Kristina Bille (injured).

In the first half the young team from Stabaek has showed a brilliant resistance against the favorites from Larvik, had the lead  at 0-1, 2-3, 5-6. Then Larvik tied and took the lead, but the match was close and balanced. Sanna Solberg, Kristin Nörstebö and Silje Solberg was the leaders of Stabaek, 11-9  after 20 minutes.

Cecilie Leganger was again like a wall, and Linn J.Sulland scored from penalties for Larvik. We can summarize that nothing is decided yet, Stabaek playing a respectfull match against a star team.  Half time: 14-10.

Second half  started with Larvik scoring from Blanco, but Stine Bredal Oftedal scored twice, 15-12. Silje Solberg conquers Leganger on keeper position, and Stabaek reduced the gap to 16-14, 17-15, 18-16  (39.min).  Then Larvik exploited all the mistakes of the opponent, and was increasing the gap to four, 21-17, by fast counter attacks.

Ole Gustad Gjekstad was complaining the whole match, and he was punished with a 2 minute suspension, after Breivang also was suspended earlier, so Larvik has only four players on the court. Stabaek takes the chance, 21-19 (46.min). 21-20 is set by Nörstebö, Silje Solberg is brilliant in the goal for Oslo team, meanwhile Rantala changes Leganger in Larvik-goal. Riegelhuth-Koren . Gro Hammerseng. Isabell Blanco scored from fast counter  attack, 22-20, 24-20, 25-20. Oftedal  scored for 25-21, but Sulland answerd, 26-21. Lene Rantala has showed her value in the goal, Gro Hammerseng increased the gap again, bot the Oftedal scored twice  again, 28-23, 28-24.

In the dying minutes of the match both teams used their players from the bench, Kristine Breistöl scored her first goal in a final, and 18 years old Hanne Bredal Oftedal netting back  44 years old Lene Rantala twice.

Final result: 31-26

Result: Larvik HK- Stabæk HK 31-26 (14-10)

Topscorers: Linn Jörum Sulland (Larvik HK) 9 goals and Stine Bredal Oftedal ( Stabæk HK) 8 goals
