FTC defeated Zvezda , Pena got injured

The Main Round was continued with matches from the second round. In the first match, in Group II, FTC Rail Cargo Hungaria hosted Zvezda Zvenigorod.

Hungarians in the opening match had defeated surprisingly Oltchim in Romania, collecting two unexpected points from a top team, considered favorites to win the CL-trophy. Russians trained by Zdravko Zovko had lost against Krim Ljubljana at home court, having desperatly need of points today.

Hosts from Ferencvaros has Szandra Zacsik out with a shoulder injury, they also losing the rookie, Luca Szekerczes last weekend, suffering an ankle injury in Valcea. She is out from the game for 2-3 weeks.

Russians from Zvezda has also some injured players, like Ludmila Postnova, having a back-injury or Julija Nikolic, having problems with her knee. Other players also struggled with some minor injuries, but all of them was ready before the match.

The beginning of the first half was balanced, 4-4, 7-7, but after this period hosts took the lead and the control of the match, Tomori and Kovacsicz having a great performance, scoring six goals each.13-10, 14-10, in the 19th minute of the match. After five more minutes, Spanish Nerea Pena suffered an injury, probably a cruciate ligament injury on the same knee he had an operation earlier. Russians made a strong come-back, changing the defensive tactic, to 5-1, getting a tie at 17-17. Half time: 18-17.

In the second half FTC had an amazing Tomori and a young Bettina Dajka, who scored four goals beside the eight goals of Tomori, scored in the second part of the match. Russians tried to get the tie and take the lea, scoring by Uskova, Nikolic, Marennikova and Lacrabére, but hosts supported by home crowd took a three goals lead 29-26, 30-27 and won the game. Final result: 35-34

Topscorers: Zsuzsanna Tomori (FTC) 14 goals and Jana Uskova, Ekaterina Marennikova, ALexandra Lacrabére, Julija Nikloic, Ljudmila Postnova (Zvezda) 5 goals each
