FTC Rail-Cargo-Hungaria-Krim Ljubljana 30-26 (14-15)
Main Round matches has continued with a new clash, this time between Hungarians from FTC and Tone Tiselj’s Krim from Slovenia.
Both teams had collected the maximum four points so far in this stage of CL, and both teams managed to defeat Oltchim Rm.Valcea, team which was considered the main favorite of this group and the CL. Victories against Valcea was counted as big surpsises in the owrld of handball.
FTC was decimated by injuries of some key -players: Szandra Zácsik is out for five months due to a shoulder injury and surgery, Luca Szekerczés suffered an ankle injury in the match against Valcea two weeks ago and finally, Nerea Pena has a cruciate ligament injury, the Spanish player is forced outside the court for the whole season.
First part has brought a slight advantage fro guests,0-1, 2-3, 3-4, FTC tied at 4-4 first. Tone Tiselj’ s surprise this time was called Sergheja Stefanisin in the goal, who showed a quiet good performance, saving shoots from Szucsánszki, Tomori or Kovacsicz.
At the score 6-9 for Krim, coach Gábor Elek has called his first time-out, trying to give more confidence to his players, which seemed to help. FTC scored three in a row, 9-9. Krim took the lead again, managing to go trough a not very organised FTC defense, 11-15 in 23. minute, Penezic, Martin, Piedade scoring for Slovenians in this period of the game.
In the last five minutes hosts made a better defensive play, Ambramovic continued with good saves in the goal, Szucsánszki has organised well the game, and Kovacsicz and Szamoránsky has assured the scorings. Half time: 14-15.
In the second half Krim has increased the lead to two goals, but hosts netted four times without letting the opponent to score, 18-16. Tomori, Kovacsicz and Szamoránsky has made a good game in this part too.
The match was balanced anyway, Krim fought back, reducing the gap to only one, 20-19, even getting a tie , 20-20, 21-21 and 22-22 (44.min). Then FTC pushed the accelaration button, players gave their last energies and took the lead and the control in the game.
Tomori was marked by Jankovic, but this seemed to not bother her, she was coring and creating scoring situations to her team-mates in this period too.
Krim seemed to lost strength and ideas, so a little but enthusiastic FTC-team collected their new two points, becoming the other undefeated team in the Main Round stage beside Győr. Final result: 30-26
