Oltchim Rm.Valcea- Győri Audi ETO KC 22-24 (10-14)
Topscorers: Katarina Bulatovic(Oltchim) 8 goals and Anita Görbicz (Győr) 8 goals
Before the game
Oltchim was called as the “dream team”, already at the early start of the season, signing more high class players and a coach, who is double winner of the CL-trophy, earlier with Viborg, Dane Jakob Vestergaard. The team was struggeling at the start of the main round, mostly because of economical problems, also some injuries occured. Two players left the team (Leynaud and Stanca), but they seemed to be highly motivated to reach the final.
Last years runner-up, Győr, is maybe the most homogeneous team of the whole competition, with the same squad as the year before, completed with the brilliant defense specialist, French, Raphaelle Tervel, Hungarian national team goalkeeper, Orsolya Herr, backuping for Katrine Lunde, lefthanded Viktória Rédei Soós, leftwinger Ivett szepesi and the rookie, Dóra Hornyák.
Karl Erik Böhn was replaced on the bench by Spanish Ambros Martín, the headcoach arrived from Itxako Navarra, and formed Győr’s team on his own face. Precise, though defense, colorfull attacks, well working rotating-system, where every player has her own role in every game.
Ambros Martín, headcoach , Győri Audi ETO KC:
” At this stage of competition there are no weak teams. Every team has an improving play, and we have chances to get to the final only if we are able to focus all the sixty minutes of every game, to control the whole match and be very disciplined.
Valcea is a very strong opponent, I expect a hard game on Saturday Their shape is increasing, they started bad, but improved and this makes them more confident. Their economical problems has been also solved, so they can prepare without any background problems. It will be an exciting game for everyone, we are hundred percent prepared.”
Alexandrina Barbosa, leftback, Oltchim Rm.Valcea (has worked earlier with Ambros Martín)
“We aren’t afraid of them, for starters. Of course, they are a very, very good team, with a good defense. However, we possess the same qualities and almost the same gameplay. These games are fun to watch and I hope we will go into the final.”
Jakob Vestergaard, headcoach, Oltchim:
“Győr is a very good team, with Heidi Löke, the best line player, Andrea Lekic, one of the best backplayers and Anita Görbicz, one of the best playmakers in the world, but they have a bunch of very strong handballers. The tactical preparation will also count a lot and we know that we met a phisically very well prepared team.”
“Despite fantastic months behind us, we are still only at the beginning. Most difficult matches are still ahead of us. …Hopefully, history will be repeated and Győr will qualify for the final like the last year.
Teams with rising performance are the most dangerous – and that team is Oltchim. We will host the home match in Veszprém , it will be a totally frenzied atmosphere in the second leg. I hope the best for my team.” (ehfcl.com-blog)

Katarina Bulatovic (Oltchim) after the game, about the loss against Győr in the first leg of the semifinal:
” We started the game quiet badly, but we had our good moments afterwards. We made many mistakes, but I am glad that we don’t give up and managed to come back into the game and make a close result at he end.
Last year with Buducnost we lost by two goals difference in Veszprém and then we managed to win trophy in the next match.
We have to win in Veszprém next week, if we want this trophy to be ours. We will prepare and we will fight until last seconds.”
