Champions league semifinal, second leg

11/04-2013, Arena Veszprém

Győri Audi ETO KC- Oltchim Rm.Valcea  24-25(10-14)

Topscorers: Heidi Löke and Andrea Lekic (Győr) 4 goals each and Oana Manea-Allison Pineau (Oltchim) 3  goals each

Before the match:

Ambros Martín, headcoach of Győr:

” There are already precedents regarding the fact that the team which got the victory in the first leg, on away court, lost the second game and could not qualify.

Oltchim is a really strong team, they will give everything to get the victory, will fight with their las energies. We have chance to reach the final only if we treat the match with the same seriousity and we are willing to fight to the end.”

Katarina Bulatovic (Oltchim):

“We are able to win the game in Veszprém, if we will focus and play calm. We will have to use our emotions in a constructive way, and try to play our game. The atmosphere in Veszprém will be a very incendiary one, in an outsold arena. Out fans were also fantastic in Bucuresti, but in Hungary a difficult game expects us, where we have to focus on the court only.”

Oltchim has arrived  to Veszprém determined to win the match and they had played according to that. Oltchim opened by 0-1, and they managed to lead the whole first half, scoring from fastbreaks first, then from backcourt.

Adriana Nechita, Allison Pineau and Oana Manea were the topscorers and Silvia Navarro had a good performance in the goal. Katrine Lunde had some top saves as well, but Győr’s attack did not worked so well, as in the first leg in Bucharest.

Amorim missed a lot of shoots, Hungarian goals were scored by Andrea Lekic, Viktória Rédei Soós and Anita Görbicz. Half time: 10-14.

In the second half the guests managed to increase the gap to six, 16-22, 18-24 scoring from every position and from fast breaks, the host team had still problems with the attacking phase, and to run home after missed balls.

Silvia Navarro made a very good match (up to 50 %), but Katrine Lunde helped her team a lot. In the last ten minutes of the match Győr with the help of their fans, 5000 were present in the hall this evening, strenghtened up their defense and ran, speeding up the game and scoring by Heidi Löke, Jovanka Radicevic, Anikó Kovacsics (on 7 meter) and the goal of qualification, Heidi Löke again.

Final result: 24-25.
