Earlier Larvik-coach and the head-coach of the Hungarian women national team, which took bronze medals with him last year in Serbian European Championship, Karl Erik Böhn is still struggling with a serious illness.
In February this year, Böhn was diagnosed with acute leukemia, since then he was fighting for his life in Rikshospitalet in Oslo. He was trough four citostatic treatments, and in September bone-marrow transplantation. The coach was weakened after this procedure, had some infections and he sazs that he almost gave up the fight at the end of October.
But in only some days everything changed, he is better now, and he could move out from the hospital, and will continue to get treatments, but will live on the patient-hotel, which is 100 meter far away from the hospital.
” I cannot join the team in Serbia for World Championship, but I will support them of course. My main goal is to get back my head coach position at the Hungarian national team and continue the work we began there, we settled a different culture, which was succesful. I hope that I will be able to enjoy the team in March, I am looking forward to it. I cannot do anything else than getting better, because 17 girls are waiting for me and they will want me back.”
