Group B, Nis
Brazil – Japan 24:20 (12:8)
Topscorers: Nascimento 5, Amorim 4; Fuji 4, Tanabe 4
A victory each for both sides yesterday, and Japan´s close match against Serbia and Denmark meant that Brazil could not underestimate their Asian opponents.
In the starting line-up of the Brazilians there were two changes: Dani Piedade started instead of Fabiana Diniz on the line and Mayssa Pessoa, yesterday in top form, also got the support of coach Morten Soubak.
The change with Piedade turned out to be a great one, as she scored the first two Brazilian goals.
Despite a few goals lead by Brazil, Japan fought back hard and after 12 minutes the scoreboard showed a draw again.
But the South Americans were determined for this match and marked well both Fuji and Ishitate, Japan´s top players from yesterday and so Soubak´s team went on with four goals in the half-time.
In the second period Japan gave their maximum and despite edging closer after 40 minutes, the Brazilian victory was never in danger.
Tomorrow in the big group final, Brazil will face Denmark, an interesting game for trainer Soubak who originally is from Denmark.
