The Danish born Brazilian head-coach, Morten Soubak is expecting a hard game:
” Everybody was sexpecting that Spain will be involved in the fight for the medals here in Serbia. Despite this I was not surprised at all, that Hungary, which made its come back to the handball-elite defeated them easily. My player, Eduarda Amorim has Hungarian players, as club-mates and they are mentally and phisically strong players, some of them won the CL this year. I expect a thogh battle on the court.
I am satisfied with our qualification to the quarter finals against Netherland, but we played weal in some phases of the match, much weaker than against Serbia and Denamrk. My team was fighting during the whole game, but we made many mistakes in the offensive phase , and if we cannot improve and we will repaet them, so we haven noc hance to win against Hungary.”
Our collegue Mark Hegedus, journalist and manager at the club, Hypo NO, was interviewed by a German sportradio, here is his opinion about this clash:
“It will be a tough game, where both teams are able to get the victory.
As a Hungarian I support of course the Hungarian national team, but since I work with many of the Brazilian players and the coach at the club I have an eye for them as well.
Hungary has got a huge support from their fans, many people traveled to Novi Sad for the matches against Romania and Germany, and I guess it will be the same in quarterfinals. Brazil is a team which has grown under Morten Soubak and they have also the chance to get the victory and qualify to the quarterfinals.
Brazilian team started easily this WCh, but they played better from match to match, and showed their strength againsт Denmark and Serbia, playing а good game against Netherland as well.
Hungarian players knows very well the Hypo players and their play, since Gyor has played against them twice in the CL, Zsuzsanna Tomori said as well, that this could be an advantage, and Orsolya Herr knows Eduarda Amorim as her team-mate.
But if you ask me who will win this battle, I can only say that this is a fifty-fifty match for me, where players are knowing each other, mostly form club-games, the daily sport-shape will also be decisive.
Brazilian team has also a special tactical movement, they are not going to the garderobes in the breakes, but they are staying on the court, since more matches, to not loose the focus.
It will be a really exciting match.”
Eduarda Amorim (Brazil), backplayer:
“For me is very pozitive that I know very well the key-players of the opponent, but this could be an advantage for both sides. Against Serbia we have already tried to block the key-players, and this was successfull then, it can work in this match as well.
In our last match we played very nervous, we made a lot of mistakes, and this characterized the whole game. We have to learn to control our feelings in the knock/out matches, otherwise we can lost the control and the qualification. I expect a very hard game against Hungary.”
Janos Hajdu (Hungary), head-coach
” Brazil is a strong team, with individually great players, but in the quarter finals already every team has the chance to get a medal, including Hungary”
Anita G0rbicz (Hungary), playmaker:
” We deserved to be in the best eight teams in the world, and I knew that my team is able to reach high if everybody showing her qualities. We have a great spirit in the team, we are very strong together, our team is very united and powerfull.”
