Paraguay to host Pan-American Beach Handball Championship

Tournament starts this wednesday and qualifies for the World Championship next year

From February 19 to 22 the Paraguayan capital will host the Pan-American Beach Handball Chanpionship. National teams of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Mexico (both Men and Women) are going to fight for the title.

The tournament will be played in two phases. First, round robin then the top 2 play the grand final on February 22. All the teams have already arrived in Assunción.

“We had an intense practice phase, aiming to improve both defense and attack. We also played friendly matches in order to improve our team work, this group is formed by newcomers and atlhetes who are coming back to the team. Having a nice balance and chemestry should be very helpful for us”, said Brazilian player Patrícia Scheppa.

Brazil is the defending champion and already qualified for the World Championship. Nevertheless they will play in Paraguay and both coaches Antônio Guerra Peixe and Rossana Marques take the competition very seriously.

The Argentineans are also very optimistic over the championship. According to player Sebastian Ferraro, the team is highly motivated to play their best and made a big effort to do the best preparation possible.
