FC Midtjylland arrived to Göteborg needing point(s) to keep chances for a FF berth. Hosts from Savehof knew that they don’t have chance to a semifinal berth, but it coulld be expected a big fight.
FCM started with a strong lead, 4-7, Savehof got the draw at 9-9, but Danish team finished the first half in lead, 14-17.
Laerke Möller, Trine Troelsen and Trine Östergaard made the day for FCM in the first part of the game, getting strong backup from an outstanding Sabine Englert in the goal.
Te second half started with a strong Swedish assault 16-17, but FCM managed to play up to 17-22 in only some minutes, Stine Jörgensen having a big day at distance shoots.
Swedish side had not gave up at all and led by goalkeeper Filippa Idéhn, made a last pressure on their home-court, in front of an enthusiastic audience, having even the match-ball and the possibility for getting two points, but the match ended 29 – 29.
FC Midtjylland still can hope to a CL Final Four berth, if they manage to win at least at three goals difference against Thüringer HC, which gained already seven points and leads this group.
