Győri Audi ETO KC and Buducnost Podgorica has qualified to the first MVM EHF CL Final, whicj will be organized today in the Papp László Sport Aréna in Budapest.
Yesterday in the semifinals we could watch Győr crushing Danes from Midtjylland, 29- 26, in a match, where the victory of the title-holders was never in danger.
The Danish team made a good gamee, but Győr showed an even better play, with clever attacks, good defense in periods, smart tactical movements and keepeing focus and control of the match during the sixty minutes. In addition, the home team was supported by around 9000 crazy Hungarians, their number could increase for today’s final.
In the second semifinal Vardar met Buducnost, in a Balcanic encounter of high interest, and the Macedonian star-team was also supported by the Hungarian crowd, since in Hungary people are not very keen of Buducnost’s team, since on 9th f March, Milena Knezevic hadbutted Anita Görbicz, in their direct match against Győr in Moraca, and got only two matches suspension for this kind of behaviour. Knezevic is fit to play already in the final of CL today.
Anyway, Vardar could not win the game, since they made a really weak first half, and the opponents defense had a brutal agressivity, which was not punished enough by the referees.Vardar made a come back for extra times, where Buducnost was sharper, Cristina Neagu has decided the match.
Dragan Adzic and Camilla Dalby has stated after the match that they are aware of the fact that in the final the whole Papp LászlóArena will be against them, but that makes them sronger and more united as a team.
Dragana Cvijic means that there is no favorite team in the final, meanwhile head-coach of Győr Ambros Martín said :
“We came here to win both matches, that’s why we have worked all the time. There is no pressure in our shoulders, we can only think about the pozitive things, the huge amount of work we made this year, to improve our play, to get better and to win again.”
The poetic question of this CL-final will be after all that if the clever, figurative, good organized handball will survive against a brutal, agressive, “no matter what, only stop the player, even if gets injured”-handball (if this could be called handball??), and how will the referees manage this type of issue, where in addition will be a high predominance of the supporters of the host-team as well.
The referees of the final are Charlotte and Julie Bonaventura, the French twins, which are well known of their precise, appropriate decisions.
Talking with a lot of people, keen of handball, everybody is worried about which way women handball will go, and all of them believe that this CL-final today it will be a milestone in the definition of the future course of the game.
