Vardar arrived to Montenegro without two of their keeplayers, both Allison Pineau and Tatiana Khmirova is injured, with 3 months expected break from handball. Despite their absence, Vardar should be a complete team, but seemed to have no chances against last years runner up in CL.

Marta Zderic closed the goal of hosts, Vardar was in really trouble, they couldn’t score goals, for long periods of the match. After a 12-9 at break, Buducnost kept control, Zderic was even better than in the first half, and with the lead of Katarina Bulatovic Buducnost defeated Vardar, 23 – 17.

Győri Audi ETO KC –  Lokomotiva Zagreb 32 – 23 (17 – 13)

Topscorers: Eduarda Amorim Taleska  8 goals, Anikó Kovacsics  7 goals (Győr) and Sonja Basic – Lidija Horvat (Lokomotiva) 4-4 goals

Győr’s lineup was incomplete at the start of the game, since Susan Müller has suffered an injury in the middle of the week  (finger fracture-3 weeks break) and Macarena Aguilar was sick,

The match started with furios Croatian attacks, where Lokomotiva seemed to be very decided, they has been in slight lead for the first ten minutes, 3- 4, 5-7. In this period the Hungarian defense was not working quiet well. Croatian champion had a few good performances, especially Ivana Jelcic in the goal and Sonja Basic in attacking play.

Győr has changed defense, 5+1 has worked much better, with a very eager Korsós in front, and hosts managed to equalize at 8 – 8, than to  take the lead and win the first half by 17 – 13. Jelena Grubisic had saved two penalties, being a very important brick in this period of the match, Eduarda Amorim and Heidi Löke has showed their offensive skills as well.

The second half showed a totally different picture of the game, Eduarda Amorim, Anikó Kovacsics or Ana Sen added some extra to the play, Grubisic continued the good performance behind an improved defense, and Győr took the victory without problems, 32 – 23.
