This was the match of two agressive, though defenses, where shorthanded Serbia with several injured player not present in the squad and with others just recovered from serious injuries (Lekic, Damnjanovic, Tomasevic, Cvijic) made a heroic game, and caused problems for the defending champions from Montenegro.

About playing the second half when Serbia had Andrea Lekic on court:

“It was very tough, athough we were preparing as if she played all the time. True, she was scoring goals for Serbia, but it did not affect the final result so much.”

“I am really proud of my team because we were focussed all the time. There were some bad elements in our game, but we showed great team spirit, we fought until the end and that’s why we took the victory.”

“I think that my team can improve in every single segment. Actually we have to play better, if we want to win against Slovakia which played great match against France today.”

“We were not focused enough at the key moments of the match. Our focus while shooting has to be better in the next matches. I feel really sorry that we lost this one.”

“It was really tough match, but I think that we played even better than it was expected. We have many injured players, we showed our great team spirit, but it was just not enough to win against such a good team as Montenegro is.“

About Dragana Cvijic’s health situation:

“We don’t know exactly what happened but it looks like her hand is in a bad condition. She will have to undergo further medical treatment.”
