France has announced the replacement of two players, Laura Glausser cme in for Armelle Attingré, meanwhile Marie Francois has replaced Marie Paule Gnabouyou.

The match started with French leading, 2 – 3, 5-7.  8- 10, 8 – 13- Hungarian side seemed to not find the rhythm of the game and the right solutions, both in attacj and defense they had problems.

Lineplayer Landre and playmaker Nze Minkor vaused a lot of trouble in the Hungarian defense, Kiss was not able to help the team with savings, Bíró replaced her in the goal.After Hunarian timeout, hosts seemed to wake uo, closed the gap 11 -13, but never managed to equalize, 13-16 for France before break.

The second hald continued with France advantage and Hungary was chasing the result, trying to turn it over. Hungarian crowd supported their team and ten minutes before the end Anikó Kovacsics netted after a fast counteraatck, 22-22, then rightwinger Mónika KOvacsicz put her team in lead, 23 -22.

French timeout was called in order to sop Hungarian raise, which helped, France got the equalizer, through Ayglon, than Triscsuk scored her ninth goal for new Hungarian lead, 24 -23. France got a ball for a draw again, than Hungary made several mistakes in attack, without getting any help from the bench, timeout has came too late, when the game became passive. and France won the game with a slight advantage.


Final result: 25 -26

Aniko Kovacsics (HUN) – left wing:

On the Hungarian supporters:

“They were great as always. They cheered for us when we were down and they cheered for us when we were up. We want to express our thanks for their amazing suport.”

On the tournament:

“If somebody told us before the tournament that we would finish sixth, we would be satisfied. But after having played a really good games against all these strong teams maybe we could have finished even better.”

On the beautiful goal after a spin shot in the first half:

“I never plan which shot I take when going to a break. Always when I do, it normally doesn’t end very good. Also this time, it was a last second decision and I am glad I succeeded.”

On the team’s performance:

“Yes, we did fight like lions today, but there are some regrets. I really think that we had to be in the semi-finals.”

On the overall team performance at EHF EURO 2014:

“We played all the games of preliminary round with only eight players and spent too much energy. As a result we played well only in the first half against Sweden, while we did not play at our level at all versus Germany.”

“Our performance was not good enough. We had to play better; to be almost perfect.”

On her message to the team:

“My message for the team is to keep working hard because I know we can be even stronger in the upcoming competitions. I really believe in our team!”
