Katrine Lunde had a contract until the end of this season with an option to prolong it with one more years. The Norwegian goalkeeper had to decide until today about the continuation. She has decided to leave, her next stop is still unknown.
Katrine Lunde about her leaving:
“This is a strange day for me, leaving Győr after I spent five years here. It’s sad that I have to leave wonderful people, players, fans and others who supported me. I am grateful for every memorable moment that we lived through together, especially the two fantastic Champions League victories which we had with my fantastic teammates.
However I excitedly look forward to new handball experiences, and I hope that we will close this season also succesfully in the Final 4.”
Ernő Kelecsényi, club leader, Győri Audi ETO KC:
” I am really sorry both as a leader and a person because of Katrine’s decision to leave us. We are trying to provide worldclass services and conditions to all of our players, and we did everything possible to make her stay.
Her abssence is already a challenge to us during this season, despite the fact that our goalkeepers produces very good results both in domestic competitions and Champions League.
The current season is still running and we are confident that together with Katrine we can achieve more successes at the end of May in Final 4, as Katrine also mentioned.
We wish her luck to her future career and a great maternal experience with her the child she’s carrying.”
