Topscorers: Mietzner- Schmelzer (THC) 5 goals each and Nora Mörk (Larvik) 12 goals
Thüringer played this first leg of the quarterfinals without important players like Nadja Nadgornaja, Jana Krause and Sonja Frey-all injured, so the game seemed to be a difficult task for the Geraman champions from the start. Larvik was led by fantastic Nora Mörk, and they got the victory, keeping their chances to go to the FF next week.
HCM Baia Mare – Dinamo Sinara 25 – 23 (11 – 12)
Topscorers: Lobach 5, Marin, Do Nascimento, Abbingh 4 goals each (HCM) and Kochetova 7, Akopian 6 goals (Dinamo)
Hometeam from Baia Mare made an extermely weak match, without ideas in their offensive play. Tonje Tiselj had problems with backplayers and goalkeeper position was not very good either.
Dinamo was in lead the entire game, with 1-2 goals, but Baia Mare managed to equalize in the dying minutes of the match, due to a good performance delivered ny Brazilian goalkeeper, Barbara Arenhart, taking the goalkeeper position eight minutes before the end.
Last minute the score was equal but Baia Mare scored twice, after fastbreaks and won by two goals, which is definitelly a better outcome than loosing the game.
ZRT Vardar SCBT – Győri Audi ETO KC 24 – 18 (14 – 10)
Topscorers: Radicevic 7,Penezic 5 (Vardar) and Sen 5, Aguilar 4 (Győr)
Vardar met Győr in a tensionate match, with fullpacked arena, where the hometeam presented an agressive defense, which could not be solved by Győr’s attack. The CL-title holder was struggeling all the game, especially in attack, scoring only 18 goals in this match, missing five seven meter throws along the encounter.
Vardar had several leaders, like Lekic, Penezic or Radicevic, but Suslina in the goal made a superb game, she was the main reason, Győr could not come closer.
Győr had a good defense, but an average attack made this match a nightmare. Next week’s game will be thrilling. Budapest or nothing?
