After a balanced ten minutes, when the two teams was following each other tightly, Romania controlled the game and Brazil had actually no answer.
Romanian defense made a good job, Brazilians had no options in attack, seemed that both AMorim and Fachinello were too slow in from of this compact wall.
In addition Paula Ungureanu saved penalties and clear situations against Brazil, meanwhile Arenhart and Pessoa were struggeling on the opposite side of the court.
Eliza Buceschi played an excellent first half, headcoach Ryde corrected himself, letting her play today and she proved that she deserved it.
If Brasil want a comeback, they had to step up in level substantially.
Half time: 8-13
Brazil managed to make a better start of the second part , reduced the gap to two goals, but Romania managed to score again and lead by 15-20 (45. minute of the game).
Ten minutes left when Eduarda Amorim scored for 19 – 20, still was a hope for the reigning World Champions. Three goals put Nechita from rightwing in between, but Brasil was still close.
Brazilians tried everything, but was not enough to start to score in the dying minutes.
Romania made their first really good game in this tournament and produced a big surprise by eliminating Brasil, the defending World Champions from the competition. They had controlled the game during the entire match and kept their advantage smartly.
Brasil did not manage to neutralize Neagu and her play with the lineplayers and wings.
Final result: 22 – 25.
