Spain holds off Sweden in low-scoring affair

EHF EURO 2016, Poland, Wroclaw

Hala Stulecia

Group C

Spain – Sweden 24-22 (12-10)

Topscorers: Valero Rivera (9, Spain) and Johan Jakobsson, Viktor Östlund  (4 each, Sweden)

Spain once again used its physical strength once more to overpower Sweden in the last match of the preliminary round on Wroclaw. The Spanish defense was just too powerful for the young and unexperienced Swedish back-court, who lacked ideas to find other solutions against the likes of Viran Morros and Gedeon Guardiola. Spain will now take four points to the main round, Sweden will start the next phase with zero points.

Best player of the match: Valero Rivera (Spain)
