24 year old Mari Molid Søbstad has requested for her club Larvik HK to let her go one year before her contract expires in order to be able to transfer to a club where she can get more playing time both in attack and defense.
Mari Molid was one of the central players of Norwegian defense at the World Championship in Denmark 2015, when Norway won the gold medals and she got chance to play in offensive phase as well for shorter periods. She is known as the best defensive player of Norway in the last years but she could not take the step in offense since she never had enough playing time in attack. First in Byåsen, she played as a reserve, than she transfered to Levanger, there she showed her attacking skills, and she signed for Larvik after her Levanger period. But right before the end of season she suffered a knee injury, she needed surgery and was out of court for one year .
When she started to play, in Larvik players like Alina Wojtas, Anja Hammersen Edin and Gro Hammerseng Edin were already good established on that position. Kristine Breistøl made her comeback also after injuries, and she needed playing time aswell, which she got.
After Wojtas was injured one year ago Molid could expect more playing time maybe, but she was only used in defense, for shorter periods!

This season she did not get more playing time either, Tine Stange is in excellent shape on that position, Molid was sitting on the bench again.
Now she decided to make the move she definitely needs fro her improvement and for her best.
Mari Molid has signed with Randers HK, where they have lack of leftback, so she got promisies to play both offensive and defensive phase, with a huge repsonsability-what she wishes.
Mari Molid about the transfer:
” Wea re too many players on the position in Larvik, so I had to make this step. It will be sad to leave the clkubd, because it was great club fro me both professionally and socially, but for my best I need to play in a team where I can get playing time.
“My ambitions are to play long years from now in the national team, and for this I have to improve, and you cannot do that if you don’t play.
“This is a good team, but they need leftback, what fits me perfectly.
“I am happy that Larvik were very understanding and let me release the contract earlier with a year and that they don’t want to stop me.
