Wetzlar, doing without one of the stars of the EHF EURO 2016, Steffen Fäth, who missed the game due to an injury, was no match for the SG Flensburg-Handewitt, winning by a final score of 35-23 (16-12). The hosts had to do without one of their key players as well, because starting goalkeeper Mattias Andersson was out with a cold. But the Champions League bound guys of Ljubomir Vranjes didn’t really care and cruised to a very easy win.
The guests were able to hang with Flensburg for the first 30 minutes, but once the second half started the SG didn’t make any prisoners. Kresimir Kozina was able to make it a 10-goal lead for the first time after 47 minutes, as the final result turned out to be Wetzlar’s worst defeat of the season. Lasse Svan (6) leg Flensburg in scoring, while Kristian Bliznac scored seven times for Wetzlar.
