Austrian right-back Maximilian Hermann has suffered a fractured face during a friendly against the Czech Republic on Saturday, as further examinations have revealed. An opposing elbow hit the 24-year old unluckily and the sharp-shooting left-hander had to leave the court right away. Hermann, who is more and more becoming an injury-prone what-if-talent, will be out for his DKB Handball-Bundesliga club Bergischer HC indefinetely.
His absence includes the game against Leipzig on the weekend, a key match for the hosts in their fight against relegation. Hermann fractured his eye socket and also his nasal bone, but was still quite lucky, because the fracture is a straight one and doesn’t require surgery. It remains to be seen how many games he will miss overall or if his season is over.
