Leipzig fights back to stun Berlin

After being down by four goals at the break newly-promoted SC DHfK Leipzig, which was able to secure a spot in the DKB Handball-Bundesliga for another season last week, came back against reigning EHF-Cup winner Füchse Berlin in front of more than 5.500 fans in the Arena Leipzig. New suprise that coach Christian Prokop was quite happy after the game: “It shows the character of our team. We made sure to stay in the league before the match, but still we fought hard after a bad first half.”

The foxes, obviously, left the court disappointed. For them it’s a huge setback while fighting for a place in European competition. Although they still sit in fifth place the gap has closed considerably to teams like Göppingen, Wetzlar and Hannover as a home game against the Rhein-Neckar Löwen is next. Leipzig will travel to lowly Lemgo and a win could almost ensure the 11th place at season’s end.
