Johan Sjöstrand came back from injury against his former club THW Kiel as he was subbed in after 20 minutes and was a key-factor in the final seconds as he came up with various saves to lead his colours to a 30-29 (14-17) win against the defending league champion, eliminating the Northern side from titel contention. With two matches to go Kiel trails the Rhein-Neckar Löwen by six, and fierce rival Flensburg by five points.
Momir Rnic led Melsungen with six goals, while Marko Vujiin netted six times for the THW Kiel as well. In case Kiel will lose its two remaining games, which seems very unlikely though, and the MT collects four points, the team from Michael Roth would move past Kiel into third place.
