
The International Handball Federation (IHF) prepared the pots for the drawing ceremony of the IHF World Championship 2017 in France. The world championship will take place between 11 and 29 January 2017 in 8 French cities: Paris, Nantes, Lille, Albertville, Rouen, Metz, Montpellier and Brest. The 24 participating teams will be drawn to 4 groups of 6 teams. The first 4 teams of each group will continue in the quarterfinals, while the last 2 teams will play for the President’s Cup.
The pots:
Pot 1: France, Germany, Qatar, Spain
Pot 2: Croatia, Slovenia, Denmark, Poland
Pot 3: Sweden, Russia, Belarus, Macedonia
Pot 4: Hungary, Iceland, Pan American 1st, Egypt
Pot 5: Tunisia, Pan American 2nd, Bahrain, Japan
Pot 6: Pan American 3rd, Angola, Saudi Arabia, Wild Card Team
The Pan American Championship is currently on in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the semifinalist teams are Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. Three of them will take the remaining spots to France. The International Handball Federation will give one team a Wild Card. The drawing ceremony will take place next Thursday in Paris.
