Another big gun to capitulate in Ikast

Group C or the group of death brings many exciting games as tonight match between FC Midtjylland and Rostov-Don.

Both teams had two points before this encounter so those finishing victorious in this game could gain some advantage, both mathematically and mentally.

The first half hosts were in lead and there were no doubts for those watching the match, which team is the better one. Sabine Englert has continued her fantastic Champions League series, performing excellent in the Danish goal, in field Stine Jörgensen, Veronica Kristiansen, Fie Woller or Linn Blohm made a remarkable first half. Rostov-Don was somehow kept in the game by Anna Vyakhireva and Alexandrina Barbosa as Katrine Lunde had a really weak day between the sticks. Half time result: 13 – 10.

In the start of the second half, Rostov-Don managed to reduce the gap and level the game at 15-15 first, than several times , but they never managed to take the lead. Anna Vyakhireva had a big contribution to putting her team back on track during the match, but not many of her teammates were able to step up their game to her level.

FCM seemed to get exhausted, but with fifteen minutes left Kristian Kristensen’s girls took the control again and never let the opponent believe that they have a chance for victory.

FC Midtjylland – Rostov-Don 25 – 23 (13 – 10)
