Esbjerg through to Main Round

The last round of the group phase brought a “life-or-death” in Group D in the Champions League: Sävehof and Esbjerg were fighting for the last remaining place in the Main Round. Esbjerg needed one point to survive the group phase but the Danish champions didn’t want to leave any excitement for the last minutes. With an excellent performance from the Swedish goalkeeper Filippa Idéhn against the Swedish champions helped Esbjerg to a confident, 11-goal-victory on home court (29-18). Esbjerg can play in the Main Round in the first Champions League season in the club’s history: they will face Győri Audi ETO KC, FC Midtjylland and CSM Bucuresti in the next round. The Scandinavian group with Esbjerg from Denmark, Larvik from Norway and Sävehof from Sweden was won by the only team not from Scandinavia: Krim from Slovenia. Krim is taking 6, Larvik 4, Esbjerg 2 points to the Main Round.
