Injury crisis as obstacle for Hungary

The Hungarian national team started a new road after missing the qualification for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Poland’s former head coach, fresh Champions League winner with CSM Bucuresti, Kim Rasmussen was contracted by the Hungarian Handball Federation to lead the team. Rasmussen can’t really be called lucky before his first main appearance with Hungary: several players have fallen out during the autumn and even in the last days of preparation with injuries. However, superstar and most experienced Anita Görbicz will be there to lead the team – and we all know that Hungary with Anita Görbicz on court is a completely different level team. Even without the injured players, qualifying for the main round is a must for the Hungarians, but with less pressure, Hungary can prove they can be dangerous for anyone. Zita Szucsánszki will travel to Sweden with a broken nose and she will miss the group matches for sure, and Krisztina Triscsuk is also not 100% fit.

Key players: Anita Görbicz, Zita Szucsánszki, Éva Kiss

Absences: Szandra Zácsik (injury), Zsuzsanna Tomori (injury), Anikó Kovacsics (injury), Dorina Korsós (injury), Szabina Mayer (injury), Gabriella Tóth (didn’t get selected after injury)
