In Group A Spain met Slovenia in an important game playing “be or not to be”, qualify or go home. Spain was defeated twice here, first by Sweden, then by Serbia so the girls of Jorge Duenas desperately needed the points. Slovenia managed to win against hosts in a fantastic game, so Ana Gros and company arrived in the match with high hopes.
Spain started the game with a high motivation and 6-1, Sovenia could not score in the first quarter, meanwhile Martin, Pena, Chavez or Cabral were very efficient for the Spanish attack. The first half ended 14 – 5, a disappointing result for Uros Bregar.
In the second half Slovenia managed to enter the game, Gros, Irman or Mavsar showed their qualities but Spain was decided to collevt those points. The match ended 30-18.
