
In group B Germany met Poland in the last round of group matches. Germany arrived here after one victory against Netherlands and one defeat against France. Poland has the last chance to collect points after two big defeats accumulated in the previous two matches. An important match in order to qualify to the Main Round: both teams has still chances to qualify in the next stage.
After a first half where there were not huge differences between the two teams, only Woltering in the goal made the difference with her saves, and Germans had a two-goal advantage at the pause 12 – 10.
In the second half the same tendencies was dominant in the match, Poland was close but not enough, always one-two-three goals difference for Germany. At 18 – 17 Poland was as close as to level the game, but Germany find more solutions in attack, scoring for 19-17. Polish girls stayed tuned and managed to level the game at 20 – 20, (Achruk). After a seven meter thorw five minutes before the final, Kinga Gryzb grabbed the lead for Poland, 20 -21. Then Germany equalized by Huber, but Achruk took back the lead, 21-22. Exciting game in the dying minutes, when both teams had the chance to collect point(s), but a better focused Germany managed to take back the lad and Clara Woltering with a last lifesaver kept the German points in her teams pocket.
