Ambros Martin: ” Improving from game to game is a part of our goals”

After the match Romania –  Croatia, won by Romania Ambros Martin and Andrea Penezic analyzed the match and the tournament so far.

Ambros Martin (ROU) – head coach

About the preliminary round:

“It was very tough to play against the bronze- and gold medallists from the Olympics and also against Croatia , team which is improving every time. Every match was really hard. I think our performance was fantastic and  every time we were better and better and this is very important for our goals.”

About the match against Croatia:

“We knew that Croatia, not only today but in all previous matches, they start really strong and well. They were leading against both Russia and Norway and today against us.

“I saw my team was very calm from the very first moment and they were playing well in the attack. Our defence kept our team high and also our goalkeepers. Our attack kept us in the match and gave us confidence to play defence and to find our moment to win with a big difference.”

About the main round:

“We need to wait. We are playing against Hungary, Czech Republic and Denmark but we still don’t know the order so we need to wait for the match Denmark – Czech Republic to finish.

Now everything depends on us, everything is in our hands because Denmark will probably have four points. If not Denmark, then the Czechs and also Norway if they beat Russia will have four points. We need to wait for these two matches and after that we’ll think about them.”

Andrea Penezić (CRO) –  left back

About the tournament:

“I’m a little bit disappointed. I wished we would have at least one victory. As we said before, our group was very hard, with hard opponents, all medallists. With this young team, with only three older players we didn’t have a chance.”

About the match:

“We made a lot of technical mistakes, that’s normal for young teams. I think we could have done better but maybe when this girls get some experience, maybe for other tournaments or championships they will do better.”
