Spain and Netherlands will play their last game in the Main Round but the two teams has different motivations: Spain will finish this tournament with a good game (they did not manage to win any game here at EURO 2016), on the other hand Netherlands can reach the semifinals with a victory or a draw (if Germany lose).
Spain is the former silver medalist from EURO 2014, Netherlands is the silver medalist from the World Championship 2015.
The match started with a slight Spanish lead, 2-1, but Dutch team was as close as possible, 2-2, then 6-6. Tess Wester had saved not less than three seven meter throws against Martin, Pena and Alberto, Netherlands grabbed the lead and increased it to 7-12. Spain managed to play a better period, and to make comeback 11-12. Last five minutes were very tense, only one goal was the difference between the two teams but Yvette Broch netted in the last second of the game, 13 – 15.
The second half became more exciting as Zoqby replaced Navarro in the Spanish goal and she showed a good performance, stopping the Dutch attacks and making Netherland confused for a shorter period. Than Estevana Polman as a real leader scored ten during the game and solved the problems of her team in the offensive phase. Spain gave a good fight to Netherlands, but this was not enough to a victory.
