38:24 – the result was not important after the match between Germany and Saudi-Arabia. The European Champion made it to the next round and had at not time any problems with the team from Asia. But in the last minutes of the match, goalkeeper Andreas Wolff got an injury after a save. He had to leave the court.
“Hopefully he will be okay,” Coach Dagur Sigurdsson said at the press conference and hopes that Andreas Wolff can play in the next match against Belarus on Wednesday.
At the end Saudi Arabia could not keep up with Germany. They had no chance.
“Congratulations to Germany, they beat us easily and I expected nothing else. I had to play with my second team, because I must take care about my players. We have the chance to go into the eight final and we put everything in the last match against Chile,” said coach Nenad Kljaic, and his team are focusing on the match against the team from South America on friday.
“We wish them all the best for the last game. That is gonna be exciting for both teams because both have the chance to go into the eight final to achieve something special,” Germans Coach Dagur Sigurdsson said.
For Germany it was not an easy game, too, because the art of playing handball in Saudi-Arabia is a little different from that in Europe. “It was difficult to keep up the concentration in this match. But that is maybe normal after we dominated the game against Chile. But we know that we have to step up now and show a better quality and a better game against Belarus tomorrow,” Sigurdsson said.
