In the fifth round of the Main Round, Larvik HK met FC Midtjylland in Ikast for a Scandinavian encounter to decide about some important points, which spot of the group will be taken of whom and last but not least the identity of the quarter-final opponents.
Larvik HK is riding a wave lately, they did not lost any match in the Main Round and they lost only two points, one in Bucuresti and one in Győr. Danes had a better group phase compared to the Main Round and they desperatelly needed the points in this game.
But Larvik opened hardly, took the lead in the first minutes thanked to a well-performing Tine Stange, Sandra Toft or Marit Malm Frafjord in the firt half. FCM was struggeling to find their game during all the first half, Burgaard, Kristiansen and Jörgenesen had problems to find the goal and Larvik made several easy goals after fastbreaks. Half time result: 11-18.
In the second half hosts managed to wake up and Sabine Englert made a good half in the goal, Jörgensen find her shooting hand, but this was simply not enough against a flying Norwegian team. Kurtovic, Stange, T.Mörk, Riegelhuth Koren and almost every player on court managed to focus only on their play, stood together, played for each other and despite a huge improvment of FCM team in the second half, they managed to keep their secure advantage and get a well-deserved victory in Denmark.
With this victory Larvik HK cannot finish lower than the second position of the Main Round group as FC Midtjylland has to meet on away match Krim Ljubljana, still with a slight qualification chance (FCM defeated Krim in thef first game 28-19, so Slovenians have to deliver a ten goals victory to be able to secure and advancement to the quarter-finals)
