
In the fifth round of the Main Round THC hostes FTC Rail Cargo Hungaria in Nordhausen in hope for the hosts to get a victory and stay i the race for the quarter-finals. THC has to deal with injuries, Hungarian rightback Planéta and goalkeeper Krause are out for the rest of the season.
Hungarian team FTC is in a good period, they did not lose any match in the Main Round so far, and still have chances to win this group if Vardar fails. They defeated Buducnost in Moraca and got a draw in the Hungarian duel against Győr earlier this week.
In the first half the two teams had a close race at 5 – 5, when guests scored some fast goals and took the lead 6-10. Kovacsics, Zácsik, Jovanovic, Lukács all made a good first half as Thüringer HC was led by Houette, Luzumova , Engel and Pintea. The first half ended 15-17.
In the second half the team of Herbert Müller decide to grabb their last opportunity and with the seven against six play they managed to level the game at 18 – 18 for the first time than take the control of the match. Despite FTC equalizing several times, THC kept calm and managed to keep a slight advantage, 24-23, than increasing it 27-23. Iveta Luzumova showed an excellent performance, scoring 12 goals for THC.
Desperate Hungarian headcoach called his timeout and his team managed to show an improved play in the last five minutes, leveling the game after several seven meters, 29 – 29.
