Ferencváros and Buducnost met in Budapest in the Elek Gyula Arena, after their first encounter ended with a surprising eight goals victory for the Hungarians in Moraca Hall. This game was important for both teams as it could change the ranking of the Main Round group eventually, which counts regarding the future quarter-finals opponents. Buducnost arrived without Lazovic, Raicevic and Zoqby de Paula, all players are out with injury.
Buducnost opened with a 0-4 and after eight goalless minutes from FTC, head coach Gabor Elek was forced to take his first timeout. It seemed to be effective as FTC produced a 5-0 run and the score was turned to 5-4 in favor of hosts. The two goalkeepers Biro and Batinovic were on their highest level, both has produced a saving percentage around 50%, which was also shown in the result at the break, 8-9 for Buducnost. The first half was also characterized by many mistakes from both sides, lost balls, turnovers and technical fouls. Besides the two goalkeepers, Szöllösi-Zácsik and Kovacsics for FTC, Bulatovic and Cvijic for Buducnost were the players to remark in the first thirty minutes.
In the second half hosts opened with leveling the game 9-9, but Buducnost pushed on the acceleration and with the lead of Neagu made a 3-0, 9-12 for guests after 35 minutes. Buducnost continued their play both in attack and defense, Batinovic had the same inspiration as in the first half and guests managed to stabilize the three goals lead during the second half, 12-15, 14-17, 17-20. Than Hungarians had a good period and reduced the gap to only one goal, 21-22, with two minutes left. Bulatovic, Neagu and Jaukovic made the game for Adzic’s team, meanwhile on hosts side, Montenegrin Marija Jovanovic scored four times in the dying minutes, but this was not enough for FTC to able to earn at least one point. Buducnost defeated FTC in Budapest with one goal, 23-24.
