Happy Vardar and disappointed Barcelona after the semifinal

Alex Dujsebajev (Vardar) – right back

” It was an amazing, but a very difficult game and I am very happy that we managed to win it. Today we won like a team, we achieved this together, even if our play was not best.

“To be totally honest I don’t even know what the result is, I was totally focused on the match and did nit know what happens around me.

“Now we have to rest and recover after this one and we have to play better tomorrow because against PSG today’s level won’t be enough.

“At the end we had som luck as wel, such games are always decided on small things and luck is one of them.

Ivan Cupic (Vardar)-rightwinger

” We played a very difficult game here and I am very satisfied that we have qualified for the tomorrow’s final. After the nerves from the start of the match, we got used to all the circumstances and started to play the handball we are able to play, even if was not easy.

” I mean that we managed to win because we were the better team today and we kept the focus and motivation all the way.

Raul Gonzalez (Vardar) – head coach

” I am very proud of my team, we played a difficult game. My team did not play good during the first half, we made lot of mistakes, but we managed to improve both in defense and attack in the second half, and Arpad Sterbik  was perfect in the goal today.

“We are happy to be here, it is great to be in the final, but  right now we need to focus to get a good rest, recovery have to be made and we have to prepare the game tomorrow, where of course we would like to play a good handball and if we made it so far, to win the trophy.”

Stojanche Stoilov  (Vardar), line player

“What happened those final seconds?!? Luka Cindric was amazing. I dreamed of that for one year and now it became true. I know we still have a tough game ahead against Paris. But this is already great for our team to even be in the situation being able to play that final match.”

Victor Tomas (Barcelona) –  right wing

“It feels awfull to not qualify to the final, because we  have worked hard and a lot,  and the whole team made it very good during the season. We came here with a lot fo confidence and motivation but we knew that beating Vardar would be a  very difficult task. We made everything we could today, we gave our best  on the court in order to win, but unfortunatelly we did not succeed. I mean that this was a match decided on small details.

“Tomorrow we have the bronze match against Veszprem and we have to give everything because of our familes and fans who travelled all the way here from Barcelona.”

Xavi Pascual (Barcelona) – headcoach

“It was an equal game,  I am very proud of my team, because they really fight and put all they have so I want to say a big congratulation for my team.

“Tomorrow in the match against Veszprem we  will try  to doour best. VELUX EHF FINAL4 is  a complicated event for everybody,  you have to play to tough games in 24 hours, but we have to try to win.
