Nordhausen: Champions League qualification Group 2

The Champions League  has started this weekend with the qualification tournaments in order to decide the two free places in Group C and D.

In Nordhausen (Germany) Thüringer HC hosts the tournament with participation of  H 65 Höörs HK (Sweden), Hypo NÖ (Austria) and Mecalia Atletico Guardes (Spain).

In the first day, semifinals were played as follows:

Thüringer HC – Mecalia Atletico Guardes  31 – 21 (13 – 9)

Topscorers: Lydia Jakubisova (THC) 6 goals and Naiara Egozkue (Mecalia) 6 goals

The hosts led by head-coach Herbert Müller had no trouble with the Spaniards, winning comfortably and preparing for tomorrows final.

H 65 Höörs HK – Hypo NÖ 32 – 19 (14 – 12)

Topscorers: Emma Lindquist (Höörs) 7 goals and Marina Topic (Hypo) 5 goals

The Swedish champion played a close first half against Hypo, but in the second part of the match Scandinavians just ran over Austrians, which seemed to not be able to keep up with this tempo. Höörs as debutants will play the final tomorrow against a very experienced THC, Germans being a permanent participant of the Champions League groups and Main Rounds in the last years.
